Titanium Window Tint was imported into South Africa from the Ukraine in 1998, and has been highly successful in the South African market. Titanium Window Tint is an electroplated titanium metal film which through sputtering technology (advanced metalizing), electronically deposits titanium permanently on to the glass to create a superior window tint – No bubbles, peeling, tears, scratches or fading like the cheaper options on the market.
Sputtering is done in a vacuum chamber by PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) technology. Metalized coating is achieved at the atomic level, in brief, an electromagnetic field directs streams of ions from chemically inert gas (argon) toward the metal. This ion bombardment, which is often described at “atomic billiards”, causes groups of atoms to dislodge in small bursts and scatter uniformly across the glass – have a look at the video below for a better understanding of the sputtering process.
Different metals are chosen to subtract specific bands of radiation from the solar spectrum. Metallic coated glass controls radiation through reflectivity. We use titanium and the result is a highly reflective layer with little mirror effect yet great privacy. Metalized glass rejects heat by reflecting it before it can be transferred through the glass. This kind of tinting offers a number of benefits and is not just for vehicles, but also for buildings – office and house windows and glass doors.
